The global community has been hit with unprecedented panic as COVID-19, a new infectious disease that was first discovered in China on January 7, 2020, spread at an alarming rate and spread to the African continent in just a month through Europe as well as Asia. WHO declared an international public health emergency due to the COVID-19 situation, and they officially declared that the world is facing a pandemic situation on March 11.

Global Care, an international health and medical NGO that has been working on health care projects in various countries in Asia and Africa for the past two decades, has planned to issue special report to discuss the worldwide COVID-19 situation and to share its future prospects and consider what to do in the era of globalized infectious diseases.

The special reports will be written by Professor Dongil AHN, a senior consultant at GlobalCare, under title “Infectious Diseases in the Era of Globalization, and Globalization of Infectious Diseases.” Professor Ahn worked at WHO for a long time, specializing in the field of tuberculosis and infectious diseases. He now teaches emerging infectious diseases and international health at Yonsei University’s Graduate School of Health.
